Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.
We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.
The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.
This particular piece features a warm natural ivory background animated by a vertical sequence of orange diamond-like forms, surrounded by smaller geometric motifs in lemon yellow, deep burgundy, black and earthy brown.
The composition has a strong central rhythm, while the motifs on either side appear more freely and irregularly, creating a beautiful balance between structure and spontaneity. Black details along the edges frame the textile visually, while the soft blue fringe adds an unexpected contemporary accent.
Nothing is mechanically repeated or perfectly symmetrical. Variations in line thickness, spacing, pile and geometry reveal the artisan's hand and make every section of the textile completely individual.
Once woven, the piece is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability, beautiful natural grain and timeless character. Its warm brown tone complements the orange and earthy details of the rug while giving the artwork a refined, gallery-like presence.
The original handmade edges and fringe remain visible, preserving the identity and tactile character of the rug.
A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.
The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and collectible wall art.
What It Brings to Your Home
This artwork brings warmth, pattern and handcrafted character into an interior while remaining calm and easy to integrate.
The natural ivory background gives the composition a soft foundation, while the orange central motifs create warmth and movement. Lemon yellow introduces a brighter, almost sunlit accent, and the burgundy and black details add depth and definition.
From a distance, the vertical sequence of motifs gives the piece a strong decorative rhythm. Up close, the irregular wool pile, individual knots, changing line thickness and handmade fringe reveal the human craftsmanship behind every detail.
The walnut frame reinforces the warm palette and gives the piece enough structure to stand confidently as a finished artwork.
It works beautifully in neutral interiors, where the orange and yellow can act as subtle focal points, and is especially effective alongside natural woods, stone, plaster and handmade ceramics.
Displayed above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, it introduces pattern and color while preserving a warm and understated atmosphere.
More Than Wall Art — A Human Connection
This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.
Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.
Every motif, line and irregularity reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who made it.
In this particular piece, that individuality can be seen in the changing proportions of the central diamonds and in the smaller surrounding motifs, which develop naturally rather than following an exact repeated template.
By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, colors, geometry and handmade fringe can be appreciated almost as you would study the marks and texture of an original artwork.
Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.
The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.
Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.
