A striking handmade Moroccan rug built around a restrained two-tone palette and an expressive, highly graphic composition. Natural ivory wool provides the background, while deep green handwoven lines create an abstract arrangement of elongated forms, geometric structures and scattered marks.

The close-up reveals the irregularity and density of the individual knots particularly well. In the large central diamond-shaped motif, ivory wool emerges through the green pile, producing a textured, almost stippled effect that gives the design considerable depth.

Design & Texture

The design has an unusually contemporary, almost abstract-art quality.

Three elongated vertical structures dominate the upper composition, leading toward larger geometric forms below. At the center sits a densely woven elongated diamond, surrounded by scattered green knots that gradually become more concentrated toward the lower half.

A ladder-like geometric structure appears alongside it, while smaller linear symbols complete the lower section.

Rather than relying on perfect symmetry, the artisan uses changes in density, scale and line to create movement throughout the rug. The result feels spontaneous and architectural at the same time.

The irregularities visible in the lines and individual knots are characteristic of genuine hand weaving and ensure that this exact composition cannot be reproduced identically.
