A sculptural handmade Beni Ouarain rug defined by a rhythmic chevron design created entirely through texture. Woven in natural undyed wool, this piece combines a soft, generous pile with lower flat-woven channels that reveal the structure of the pattern.

The absence of contrasting colors makes the craftsmanship itself the focus: pile height, wool texture, negative space and light work together to create the design.

Design & Texture

The design consists of repeating zigzag and chevron lines running vertically across the rug.

Rather than drawing these motifs with colored wool, the artisan creates them by alternating plush hand-knotted sections with lower-pile and flat-woven channels. This high-low construction gives the surface an almost three-dimensional quality.

The close-up reveals the individual wool knots and the slightly irregular movement of each line. These variations are an essential part of the piece: every chevron carries the hand of the weaver rather than the mechanical precision of a machine-made pattern.

As natural light moves across the rug, the shadows within the recessed lines become stronger or softer, subtly changing its appearance throughout the day.
