Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.
We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.
The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.
This particular piece features a warm natural ivory background covered with a highly expressive composition of pink, black, red, turquoise blue and ochre details.
Large diamond-like forms run vertically through the center of the textile, while vivid pink diagonal lines create movement across the composition. Around them, irregular black motifs, small colored shapes and freely placed details give the design a lively, almost graphic quality.
The balance between bold central geometry and spontaneous surrounding forms makes the textile feel both structured and intuitive. Nothing follows perfect symmetry or mechanical repetition. Every variation in shape, color, pile and spacing is part of the artisan's hand.
Its original handmade fringe remains fully visible along the lower edge, preserving the identity of the rug and reinforcing its handcrafted character.
Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability, beautiful natural grain and timeless character. Its warm brown tone creates a natural contrast with the vivid colors while giving the artwork a refined, gallery-like presence.
A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.
The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and collectible wall art.
What It Brings to Your Home
This piece brings energy, movement and a strong artistic personality into a room.
The natural ivory background keeps the artwork grounded, while vivid pink immediately draws the eye. Black adds structure and definition, and the smaller red, turquoise and ochre details introduce additional layers of color.
From a distance, the large diamonds and crossing lines create a strong graphic composition. Closer up, the irregular knots, changing pile and smaller motifs reveal an entirely different level of detail and craftsmanship.
The walnut frame softens the brighter colors with the warmth of natural wood and gives the textile enough visual structure to stand confidently as a finished artwork.
It works especially well in neutral interiors, where it can become the main focal point, but its varied palette also allows it to connect easily with contemporary art, ceramics, books and colorful decorative objects.
Displayed above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, it brings together the tactile warmth of Moroccan weaving and the impact of an original abstract artwork.
More Than Wall Art — A Human Connection
This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.
Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.
Every line, motif and irregularity reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who made it.
In this particular piece, that creative freedom is especially visible. The diamonds, crossing lines and smaller motifs are not mathematically repeated or digitally planned. They develop naturally during the weaving process, giving the composition the spontaneity and individuality of a genuine handmade artwork.
By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, changing colors, geometry and handmade fringe can be appreciated almost as you would observe the surface and details of an original painting.
Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.
The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.
Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.
