Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.

We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.

The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.

This particular piece combines a warm natural ivory background with expressive turquoise and ochre forms. Rather than following a rigid geometric pattern, the composition develops through irregular blocks, curved lines and open areas that give the textile a spontaneous, almost painterly quality.

The contrast between the thick ivory pile and the flatter colored areas creates an additional layer of depth. The design changes as the light moves across the wool, revealing the irregular surface, the density of the knots and the hand of the artisan behind the piece.

Its original fringe remains visible at the bottom, preserving the character of the rug and reinforcing its identity as a genuine handwoven textile.

Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability, beautiful natural grain and timeless character. Its warm brown tone works particularly well with the ochre and turquoise palette while giving the artwork a substantial, gallery-like presence.

The handmade edges and fringe remain fully visible rather than being concealed behind the frame.

A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.

The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and sculptural wall decoration.

What It Brings to Your Home

This piece brings color into an interior in a warm, artistic and highly tactile way.

The natural ivory wool keeps the composition soft and grounded, while the turquoise introduces freshness and the ochre adds warmth. Together, the colors create a balanced contrast that feels expressive without becoming overwhelming.

From a distance, the composition can resemble an abstract painting. Up close, the difference in pile height, the visible wool fibers and the handwoven surface reveal the craftsmanship that makes the piece completely different from printed or mechanically produced wall art.

The warm walnut frame gives the textile structure and definition while allowing the wool to remain the visual focus.

It works beautifully as a stand-alone artwork above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, and can also become part of a curated wall alongside paintings, photography, ceramics and collected objects.

In neutral interiors, the turquoise and ochre become natural focal points. In warmer spaces with wood, stone or earthy colors, the artwork blends easily while still bringing an unexpected artistic accent.

More Than Wall Art — A Human Connection

This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.

Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.

Every change in line, color, texture and pile reflects the hands of the woman who created it.

In this particular design, that human presence is especially visible. The turquoise and ochre forms do not follow perfect symmetry or exact repetition. They develop naturally through the weaving process, giving the artwork the spontaneity and individuality of a textile piece made entirely by hand.

By moving the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, color transitions, irregular geometry and fringe can be appreciated almost as you would observe the surface and brushwork of a painting.

Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.

The natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.

Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.

Color Palette

Natural ivory wool with turquoise and warm ochre accents, framed in rich walnut wood.

A warm yet fresh palette in which earthy golden tones meet cool turquoise against a soft natural background.

The combination creates an expressive but balanced composition that brings color into an interior while retaining the natural character of handwoven wool.

Interior Style Compatibility

Especially suited to contemporary, modern organic, Mediterranean, eclectic, artistic, Scandinavian and modernist interiors.

It pairs beautifully with walnut, oak, travertine, limestone, plaster walls, microcement, linen, bouclé, ceramics and natural leather.

The turquoise works particularly well with warm woods and neutral stone, while the ochre connects naturally with terracotta, caramel, rust and earthy decorative accents.

Its abstract composition makes it especially effective in interiors with sculptural furniture and carefully selected objects, where it can function almost like a textile painting.
