Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.
We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.
The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.
This particular piece features a warm natural ivory background scattered with an expressive arrangement of diamond-like forms and small abstract motifs in ochre, turquoise, deep green, pink, orange and black.
The composition develops vertically and freely across the textile. Larger geometric forms are balanced by smaller colored details, while an irregular line moves down one side almost like a hand-drawn gesture woven directly into the wool.
A strong ochre border along the left edge gives the composition additional structure and warmth, while the changing scale and placement of the motifs create a sense of rhythm and spontaneity.
Nothing is mechanically repeated or perfectly symmetrical. Variations in shape, spacing, pile and color are part of the artisan's creative process and make the textile completely individual.
Its original handmade fringe remains visible along the lower edge, preserving the identity and tactile character of the rug.
Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame with a deep black finish. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability and long-lasting quality, while the dark finish creates a striking contrast with the natural ivory wool and vivid colors.
A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.
The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and collectible wall art.
This piece brings color and personality into an interior while keeping a warm, natural and handcrafted feeling.
The ivory wool gives the composition a soft foundation, while ochre and orange add warmth. Turquoise and deep green introduce freshness, and the pink details bring a more playful contemporary accent.
Because the color appears in smaller motifs rather than covering the entire textile, the artwork remains easy to integrate into a room while still offering plenty of visual interest.
From a distance, the irregular diamonds and scattered forms create an expressive abstract composition. Up close, the texture of the wool, individual knots, changing pile and handmade edges reveal the hours of manual work behind the piece.
The deep black frame gives the artwork definition and creates a beautiful contrast against the warm natural wool.
It works especially well in neutral interiors, where the colors can become small focal points, but it can also connect naturally with ceramics, books, paintings and decorative objects already present in the room.
This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.
Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.
Every motif, irregular line and shift in color reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who made it.
In this piece, that individuality is particularly visible. The geometric forms vary naturally in size and proportion, and the smaller details appear freely throughout the composition rather than following a rigid repeated pattern.
By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, colors, motifs and handmade fringe can be appreciated almost as you would observe the marks and texture of an original painting.
Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.
The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.
Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.

Natural ivory wool with ochre yellow, turquoise blue, deep green, pink, orange and black accents, framed in deep black-finished walnut wood.
A warm and lively palette in which earthy ochre and orange are balanced by cooler turquoise and green, with smaller pink accents introducing a playful contrast.
The generous ivory background keeps the overall composition light, natural and easy to integrate.
Especially suited to contemporary, eclectic, artistic, Mediterranean, modern organic, bohemian and collected interiors.
It pairs beautifully with walnut, oak, travertine, limestone, plaster walls, microcement, linen, bouclé, ceramics and natural leather.
The ochre and green tones work particularly well with natural woods and earthy materials, while the turquoise and pink details add enough contrast to give a neutral room more personality.
Its free-form composition also works beautifully alongside vintage furniture, contemporary art, sculptural objects and handmade ceramics.
