Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.
We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.
The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.
This particular piece features a warm natural ivory background decorated with a richly layered composition of deep navy, turquoise, orange, dusty pink and earthy burgundy details.
The upper section is organized through horizontal bands of geometric motifs, while the lower section becomes more decorative and expressive, with larger diamond-like forms and smaller repeated details arranged across the surface.
The result feels structured without ever becoming rigid. Small variations in spacing, shape and color are visible throughout the textile, giving the composition the rhythm and individuality that only handweaving can produce.
The original long handmade fringe remains fully visible along the lower edge, adding movement and reinforcing the identity of the piece as a genuine rug rather than conventional framed artwork.
Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability, beautiful natural grain and timeless character. Its warm brown tone complements the earthy colors of the rug and gives the finished piece a refined, gallery-like presence.
The handmade edges and fringe remain visible rather than being concealed behind the frame.
A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.
The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and collectible wall decoration.
This artwork brings pattern, color and handcrafted character into an interior while remaining warm and easy to live with.
The natural ivory background dominates the composition, allowing the darker navy motifs to provide structure while turquoise, orange, pink and burgundy introduce smaller areas of color and visual interest.
From a distance, the repeated bands and central motifs create a balanced decorative composition. Closer up, the changing pile, irregular outlines, individual knots and long fringe reveal the handmade nature of the piece.
The walnut frame adds warmth and definition without competing with the textile itself.
It works beautifully as a stand-alone piece above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, particularly in rooms built around natural materials and neutral tones.
Its combination of geometric structure and colorful detail also makes it a strong choice for interiors that feel collected over time rather than perfectly coordinated.
This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.
Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.
Every motif, line and small variation reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who created it.
In this particular piece, the richness of the composition makes that human presence especially visible. The geometric forms are not mathematically repeated or mechanically aligned. They develop naturally across the loom, creating subtle differences that make the textile feel alive and completely individual.
By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, motifs, changing colors and long fringe can be appreciated almost as you would observe the surface and details of an original artwork.
Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.
The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.
Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.

Natural ivory wool with deep navy, turquoise blue, orange, dusty pink and earthy burgundy accents, framed in warm walnut wood.
A balanced palette in which strong navy details give structure to the composition while smaller areas of turquoise, orange and pink add brightness and personality.
The warm walnut frame connects naturally with the earthy tones of the rug and keeps the overall piece grounded and refined.
Especially suited to contemporary, modern organic, Mediterranean, eclectic, bohemian, Scandinavian and collected interiors.
It pairs beautifully with walnut, oak, travertine, limestone, plaster walls, microcement, linen, bouclé, ceramics and natural leather.
The navy and ivory foundation makes it easy to integrate into neutral interiors, while the smaller areas of turquoise, orange and pink can connect naturally with ceramics, books, artwork and other decorative details already present in the room.
Its layered pattern works particularly well alongside vintage pieces, contemporary furniture and objects collected over time.
