Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.
We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.
The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.
This particular piece features a warm natural ivory background animated by an expressive composition of navy blue, fresh green, deep pink and warm orange motifs.
At the center, a large elongated abstract form outlined in pink and filled with navy geometric details gives the artwork a strong vertical presence. Around it, smaller irregular symbols, loops and graphic shapes appear freely across the surface, creating a composition that feels almost like a personal visual language.
A bold navy zigzag travels along one side of the textile, while smaller green and orange details introduce rhythm and contrast. The absence of rigid symmetry makes the composition feel spontaneous and unmistakably handmade.
Its original woven edges and dark fringe remain visible, preserving the identity of the rug rather than hiding it behind the frame.
Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame with a deep black finish. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability and long-lasting quality, while the dark finish gives the colorful textile a strong contemporary presence.
A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.
The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and collectible wall art.
This piece brings character, color and a sense of discovery into an interior.
The natural ivory background keeps the artwork light and warm, while the navy blue gives the composition structure. Green, pink and orange details appear almost unexpectedly across the surface, adding energy without overwhelming the textile.
The large central motif makes the piece particularly striking from a distance, while closer inspection reveals the individual knots, changing pile and numerous smaller shapes hidden throughout the composition.
Its dark frame gives the artwork definition and creates a beautiful contrast with the natural wool.
It works particularly well in neutral interiors, where the colors become subtle focal points, but it can also sit comfortably among contemporary paintings, ceramics, books and collected objects.
Displayed above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, it introduces the warmth of handmade Moroccan weaving while having the visual presence of an original artwork.
This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.
Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.
Every line, motif and irregularity reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who made it.
In this piece, that individuality is especially visible. The various forms are not arranged according to a perfectly repeated template. They appear organically across the loom, allowing the composition to evolve during the weaving process.
By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, motifs, changing colors and irregular geometry can be appreciated almost as you would study the marks and texture of an original painting.
Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.
The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.
Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.
There is only one. Once sold, this exact artwork cannot be reproduced.
Natural ivory wool with navy blue, fresh green, deep pink and warm orange accents, framed in deep black-finished walnut wood.
A lively yet balanced palette in which navy provides structure while green, pink and orange introduce smaller bursts of color.
The natural ivory background keeps the composition warm and allows every motif to remain clearly visible.
Especially suited to contemporary, eclectic, artistic, Mediterranean, modern organic and collected interiors.
It pairs beautifully with walnut, oak, travertine, limestone, plaster walls, microcement, linen, bouclé, ceramics and natural leather.
Its navy and ivory foundation makes it easy to integrate into neutral interiors, while the green, pink and orange details can connect naturally with artwork, ceramics and decorative objects already present in the room.
Its symbolic, free-form composition also works beautifully alongside vintage pieces, sculptural furniture and contemporary art.
