Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.
We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.
The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.
This particular piece is defined by a warm natural ivory field crossed by free-flowing mustard yellow lines and abstract forms. The composition feels almost like a spontaneous drawing made directly in wool, with irregular curves, broken lines and open areas that create movement across the surface.
Rather than following strict symmetry or repetition, the design develops freely across the textile. Variations in line thickness, pile height and geometry reveal the artisan's hand and give the piece its distinctly individual character.
The contrast between the soft, thick ivory pile and the flatter yellow sections adds subtle relief and makes the composition change depending on the light and viewing angle.
Its original handmade edges and fringe remain visible, preserving the identity of the rug and emphasizing its handcrafted origin.
Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability, beautiful natural grain and timeless character. Its warm brown tone complements the mustard yellow beautifully and gives the artwork a refined, gallery-like presence.
A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.
The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and minimalist abstract wall art.
This piece brings warmth and artistic character into a room in a particularly quiet and understated way.
The natural ivory wool dominates the composition, while the mustard yellow introduces just enough color to create movement and personality without overwhelming the space.
From a distance, the irregular yellow lines can resemble an abstract drawing or minimalist painting. Up close, the thick wool pile, visible knots and changing surface reveal the textile craftsmanship behind the piece.
The walnut frame reinforces the warm, natural quality of the artwork and makes it especially easy to integrate into interiors based around wood, stone and soft neutral tones.
It works beautifully as a stand-alone artwork above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, where it can introduce color and texture while maintaining a calm visual atmosphere.
For interiors dominated by cream, beige, plaster, travertine or natural woods, the mustard yellow becomes a subtle but distinctive accent.
This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.
Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.
Every irregular line, shift in proportion and change in texture reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who made it.
In this particular piece, that creative freedom is especially visible. The yellow composition is not generated from a perfectly repeated template. It develops naturally on the loom, allowing the lines and forms to evolve throughout the weaving process.
By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, changing pile, irregular drawing and handmade fringe can be appreciated almost as you would observe the brushwork and texture of an original painting.
Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.
The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.
Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.

Natural ivory wool with warm mustard yellow accents, framed in rich walnut wood.
A soft and earthy palette that combines warm neutrals with a distinctive yellow accent.
The mustard tone brings life to the composition while remaining natural and easy to integrate with wood, stone and other organic materials.
Especially suited to contemporary, modern organic, minimalist, Mediterranean, Scandinavian, Japandi, wabi-sabi and modernist interiors.
It pairs beautifully with walnut, oak, travertine, limestone, plaster walls, microcement, linen, bouclé, ceramics and natural leather.
The mustard yellow works particularly well with warm woods, terracotta and earthy neutrals, while the generous ivory background allows the piece to remain calm and versatile.
Its restrained abstract design makes it especially effective in interiors with sculptural or modernist furniture, where texture and craftsmanship can become part of the architecture of the room.
