Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.
We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.
The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.
This particular piece is built around a bold central geometric composition outlined in black, surrounded by an expressive arrangement of ivory, fuchsia pink, turquoise blue, yellow, green, purple and orange details.
Squares, rectangles, irregular blocks and small graphic forms appear across the surface almost like fragments of an abstract painting. The strong black lines give the composition structure, while the unexpected placement of color creates movement and personality.
There is no mechanical symmetry or exact repetition. Changes in shape, scale, pile and color are part of the artisan's creative process and make the textile completely individual.
The original handmade fringe remains visible along the lower edge, preserving the identity of the rug and emphasizing its handwoven origin.
Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame with a deep black finish. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability and long-lasting quality, while the dark finish creates a strong graphic border around the colorful composition.
The handmade edges and fringe remain fully visible rather than being concealed behind the frame.
A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.
The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and expressive abstract wall art.
This is one of those pieces that can completely change the personality of a room.
The natural ivory wool provides a calm background, while the fuchsia, turquoise, yellow, green, purple and orange details introduce energy and visual rhythm. Black anchors the composition and prevents the brighter colors from becoming overwhelming.
From a distance, the artwork has the impact of a contemporary abstract painting. Closer up, the depth of the pile, visible knots, irregular shapes and natural wool fibers reveal the craftsmanship behind every detail.
The dark frame intensifies the contrast and gives the artwork a strong gallery-like presence.
It works particularly well in interiors that are otherwise neutral, where it can become the main visual focal point, but its varied palette also allows it to connect naturally with existing colors, artwork and decorative objects.
Displayed above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, it brings together color, texture and the warmth of a genuine handmade textile.
This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.
Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.
Every line, color transition and irregular shape reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who made it.
In this particular design, that freedom is especially visible. The colorful blocks and graphic forms are not arranged according to a perfectly repeated template. They develop organically during the weaving process, giving the composition the spontaneity of an original artwork.
By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, colors, geometry and handmade fringe can be appreciated almost as you would observe the brushstrokes and surface of a painting.
Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.
The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.
Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.
There is only one. Once sold, this exact artwork cannot be reproduced.
Natural ivory wool with black geometric lines and vibrant fuchsia pink, turquoise blue, yellow, green, purple and orange accents, framed in deep black-finished walnut wood.
A bold, expressive palette in which bright color is balanced by natural wool and strong black details.
The variety of tones gives the artwork an energetic character while the ivory background keeps the overall composition warm and easy to integrate into an interior.
Especially suited to contemporary, eclectic, artistic, modernist, Mediterranean and modern organic interiors.
It pairs beautifully with walnut, oak, travertine, limestone, plaster walls, microcement, linen, bouclé, ceramics and natural leather.
It is particularly effective in interiors dominated by neutral tones, where the colorful composition can become a strong focal point.
The piece also works beautifully alongside contemporary art, vintage furniture, sculptural objects and collected pieces, adding the warmth and texture of handwoven wool to an otherwise clean or architectural space.
