Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.

We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.

The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.

This particular piece features a warm natural ivory background crossed by a spontaneous composition of turquoise blue, vibrant pink, ochre orange and deep green. Irregular rectangles, open geometric forms and freely moving lines create an abstract design that feels almost like a drawing made directly onto the wool.

There is no rigid symmetry or mechanical repetition. The changing thickness of the lines, unexpected intersections and open spaces reflect the artisan's freedom during the weaving process and give the piece its expressive, individual character.

The original handmade fringe remains visible along the lower edge, while small woven color details at the borders add another layer of personality.

Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame with a deep black finish. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability and long-lasting quality, while the dark finish creates a striking contrast with the natural ivory wool and vibrant colors.

The handmade edges and fringe remain fully visible rather than being concealed behind the frame, preserving the identity of the original rug.

A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.

The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and expressive abstract wall art.

What It Brings to Your Home

This piece brings energy, color and a distinctly artistic personality into a room.

The natural ivory wool keeps the composition warm and balanced, while the turquoise, pink, ochre and deep green details introduce vivid color without covering the entire surface.

Its irregular geometry gives the artwork a playful, spontaneous character. From a distance, it can resemble an abstract line drawing or contemporary painting. Up close, the depth of the wool, individual knots and subtle variations reveal the completely handmade nature of the piece.

The dark frame gives the composition definition and makes the colors appear even more vibrant.

It is particularly beautiful in neutral interiors where it can become an immediate focal point, but its varied palette also makes it surprisingly easy to connect with existing colors elsewhere in the room.

Displayed above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, it introduces the tactile warmth of Moroccan weaving while offering the visual presence of contemporary art.

More Than Wall Art — A Human Connection

This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.

Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.

Every line, change of color and irregular shape reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who made it.

In this particular piece, that freedom is especially visible. The colorful forms are not copied from a digital template or repeated with mathematical precision. They emerge gradually on the loom, allowing the composition to develop intuitively as the rug is created.

By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, irregular geometry, vivid colors and handmade fringe can be appreciated almost as you would observe the brushstrokes and surface of an original painting.

Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.

The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.

Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.

Color Palette

Natural ivory wool with vibrant turquoise blue, pink, ochre orange and deep green accents, framed in deep black-finished walnut wood.

A lively yet balanced palette that combines a warm neutral base with expressive bursts of color.

The ivory background gives the brighter tones room to breathe, while the dark frame creates definition and contrast around the entire composition.

Interior Style Compatibility

Especially suited to contemporary, eclectic, artistic, Mediterranean, modern organic, Scandinavian and modernist interiors.

It pairs beautifully with walnut, oak, travertine, limestone, plaster walls, microcement, linen, bouclé, ceramics and natural leather.

The colorful details make it especially effective in interiors dominated by cream, beige, stone or warm woods, where the artwork can introduce personality without requiring other large areas of strong color.

It also works beautifully alongside contemporary art, vintage furniture, sculptural objects and collected pieces.
