Handwoven in Morocco by Amazigh women artisans in our own cooperative, this one-of-a-kind textile artwork is part of an original creative concept developed by Kenza & Co to bring traditional Moroccan weaving into a new artistic format.

We wanted to explore another way of experiencing the beauty of a handmade Berber rug: not only as a textile for the floor, but as an individual artwork designed to be displayed and appreciated on the wall.

The rug is woven entirely by hand from 100% natural sheep wool using traditional Moroccan techniques and weaving knowledge passed down through generations.

This particular piece features a warm natural ivory background crossed by a bold composition of black diamond forms and flowing geometric lines. A large central diamond anchors the upper section, while smaller irregular diamonds continue vertically through the lower half, creating a balanced but deliberately imperfect rhythm.

The design is simple at first glance, yet the changing proportions of the diamonds, irregular contours and variations in pile reveal the unmistakable character of handweaving.

A subtle multicolor woven detail along the upper edge introduces tiny touches of red, green and orange, while the long natural ivory fringe at the bottom preserves the original character of the rug.

Nothing is mechanically repeated or perfectly symmetrical. Every variation in line, shape and texture reflects the artisan's hand and ensures that the composition exists only once.

Once woven, the textile is carefully mounted inside a solid walnut wood frame with a deep black finish. Walnut was chosen for its strength, durability and long-lasting quality, while the dark finish intensifies the graphic black-and-ivory composition and gives the piece a refined, gallery-like presence.

The original handmade edges and fringe remain visible rather than being concealed behind the frame.

A discreet hanging fixture is already installed on the back, so the artwork arrives ready to hang directly on the wall.

The result sits naturally between traditional Moroccan weaving, contemporary textile art and minimalist wall art.

What It Brings to Your Home

This artwork brings graphic character, texture and handcrafted warmth into an interior while remaining exceptionally versatile.

The black and natural ivory palette gives it a timeless quality, making it easy to integrate into both minimalist and more layered spaces.

From a distance, the irregular diamond composition has the presence of an abstract drawing. Up close, the thick wool pile, subtle asymmetry, individual knots and handmade fringe reveal the human craftsmanship behind the piece.

The deep black frame gives the composition architectural definition and emphasizes the softness of the natural wool.

It works beautifully as a stand-alone artwork above a console, sideboard, bed or smaller sofa, and is particularly effective in rooms built around neutral tones and natural materials.

Its restrained palette allows it to add pattern and personality without competing with the rest of the interior.

More Than Wall Art — A Human Connection

This collection was created by Kenza & Co as a new way of celebrating Moroccan rug weaving while preserving the human story behind every piece.

Each textile is slowly handwoven in our own cooperative by Amazigh women artisans using techniques and knowledge transmitted between generations. There is no industrial production, digital printing or mechanical repetition involved.

Every line, diamond and irregularity reflects the hands and creative decisions of the woman who made it.

In this particular piece, the small differences between each geometric form make that human presence especially visible. The shapes are related but never identical, developing naturally across the loom rather than following a digitally generated pattern.

By bringing the rug from the floor to the wall, these details become even more visible. The wool, geometry, changing texture and fringe can be appreciated almost as you would study the surface and marks of an original artwork.

Through this creative project, we wanted to offer a contemporary expression of Moroccan textile art while continuing to support the artisans and families behind the craft and helping traditional weaving remain a living skill.

The use of natural sheep wool also maintains an important connection to the Moroccan landscape and to the materials that have sustained this textile tradition for generations.

Every textile develops differently on the loom, and every finished artwork is individually selected, mounted and framed.

Color Palette

Natural ivory wool with black geometric diamond motifs, subtle red, green and orange woven details, and natural ivory fringe, framed in deep black-finished walnut wood.

A timeless neutral palette with just a hint of unexpected color.

The black-and-ivory contrast gives the artwork a strong graphic presence, while the small colored accents preserve a subtle sense of individuality and handmade character.

Interior Style Compatibility

Especially suited to contemporary, modern organic, minimalist, Mediterranean, Scandinavian, Japandi, wabi-sabi and eclectic interiors.

It pairs beautifully with walnut, oak, travertine, limestone, plaster walls, microcement, linen, bouclé, ceramics and natural leather.

Its monochromatic geometry works especially well in calm neutral interiors, while the black frame can connect naturally with darker lighting, furniture or architectural details.

The piece is particularly effective alongside sculptural or modernist furniture, where its handmade texture softens clean lines and adds warmth.
