This is a genuine handmade Boucherouite rug, created in the High Atlas mountains in Morocco, it's unique and wonderfully extravagant in color and timeless in design.
Boucherouite rugs first emerged around the 1950's, woven from pre-used clothing or scrap materials hence the name, and were used as blankets and wraps to keep warm especially during the harsh winter that the Atlas Mountains bring. These rugs are traditionally made from a mixture of thousands of scraps of used materials such as nylon, cotton and often wool. The stunning mixture of materials adds to the unique texture and design of these colorful pieces of modern art. Since the 90’s these rugs have become popular and can add character to any home.
This Moroccan Boucherouite rug is perfect for lounging and give your space a unique and bohemian touch. Perfect for the kids room, living room, bedroom, terrace or balcony.
